CHARLICY DUNLAP
Charlicy Dunlap, 90, of Axtell, passed away peacefully on June 15,2025.
Charlicy was born on Aug. 11,1934, in Wortham. She was the fourth of six children born to Charlie and Tommie Cobbs.
She was attending Farrah High School when she met her husband, Sam Richard Dunlap, aka S.R. They were married on Feb. 4 ,1952 and began a lifelong journey together. After their marriage Charlicy and Sam eventually moved to Waco. There she operated Cobbs Fabric until retirement.
Charlicy was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Tommie Cobbs; D UNLAP her husband, Sam R. Dunlap; and her son, Richard D. Dunlap, aka Ricky.
She is survived by one sister, Tommie Faye Sims of Mexia; her daughter, Gail and husband, James Hood of Axtell; her grandson, Wade and wife, Susan Adcock of Newton; granddaughter, DeVona Adcock of Axtell; great grandchildren, Dalyn and Dezlyn Lamb, J-Bird, Drezden and Faith Rutledge; and three great-great grandchildren and one on the way.
Visitation with the family will be held from 9 to10 a.m., Thursday, June 19, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia. Graveside services will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the New Hope Cemetery near Jewett, with Reverend Tracy Sims officiating.
