Donna Moore Dawley

Donna Moore Dawley of Groesbeck went home to her lord and savior on December 7, 2020. She passed at Limestone Medical Center after a strong and courageous fight against cancer. She was 64 years of age.

Visitation will be at Groesbeck Funeral Home on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 6-8 PM.

Funeral services will be held at Groesbeck Funeral Home on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 10 AM under the direction of Reverend Marcus Sheffield and Reverend Tracy Sims. Burial will follow in Fort Parker Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Mac Wilson, Scott Pistone, Bill Ward, Leo Mcgilvray, Larry Black and Lynn Glass. Honorary Pallbearers are all former Farm Bureau co-workers and all former students.

Donna was born on August 23, 1956 to Donald Ray Moore and Carol Faye Moore in Marlin Texas. Donna grew up in Marlin, Mart, Jacksonville, and Mexia Texas where she graduated in 1974. She was active in the Vocational Office Education Club where she developed her lifelong career path. She worked in the office of Focke Insurance, Dealers Electric, and Ferguson Chevrolet.

She had a wonderful career as the county secretary for 35 years while working at Limestone County Farm Bureau. She served the community by meeting, greeting, and corresponding with all Farm Bureau members. Her correspondence reached all levels of the farm bureau organization. She became the familiar face of the Limestone County Farm Bureau office.

Donna was married to John E. Dawley on August 9, 1975 in Mexia Texas where she chose the life as a spouse of an ag teacher along with the responsibilities at the Farm Bureau. Additionally, formed by her love of country life and home living she became a member and officer of the Groesbeck Young Homemakers Club. She was an active member involved with the agriculture and the homemaking side of the Limestone County Youth Show.

When children came along, she became a loving mother and coach, coaching youth t-ball. She became known as coach and Momma Dawley to many young girls and boys who were on the teams of her children.

She was always determined to be at any activities of her children, whether that be sports or any other school involvement.

Her children grew and met wonderful spouses of their own. Donna and John showed them how to create a loving family. Donna opened her arms with love to Billy and Crystall. When Emorie and William arrived, she longed to be with them every second. She loved every minute of spending time and seeing her babies. Donna’s world was her husband, children and their spouses, and grandchildren.

She never met a stranger and always treated everyone with courteousness and respect. She had a smile that would light up the room. Her motto was always be humble and kind.

Donna was preceded in death by her father Donald Ray Moore of Mexia Texas, Sister in law Melinda Moore of Kingwood Texas, and Brother in law Freddie Dawley of Groesbeck Texas.

She is survived by her husband John E. Dawley united in marriage of 45 years. Daughter Jennifer and husband Billy Conard and children Emorie and William of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina. Son John Stacy and wife Crystall Dawley of Lubbock Texas. Mother Carol Moore of Mexia Texas. Sister Becky and husband Rayford Schulze of Brandon Texas, Brother Greg and wife Terri Moore of Brandon Texas, Brother Jay and wife Jennifer Moore of Fulshear Texas. Sister in law Kay Dawley of Groesbeck Texas, Brother in law James and Sister in law Carol Ann Dawley of Mexia Texas along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends including caretaker Kathy O’Bryant of Groesbeck Texas.
