Dorothy Lyndell

Dorothy Lyndell was born on June 4, 1936, to LeRoy and Linnie (Garrett) DeBrock in Thornton, Texas. She passed away on June 5, 2023, at age 87.

Lyndell graduated from Groesbeck High School, Groesbeck, Texas in 1954. On December 22, 1955, she married Norman (Benson) Pollock, who was beginning a career in the United States Air Force. Just weeks after their wedding, Benson was sent overseas to Korea. Upon his return, they were stationed on various military bases, including Texas, Wyoming, and The Philippines. When he retired in 1971 at Bergstrom AFB, they made Del Valle, Austin, and Elroy Texas their home for 48 years. When the Base Chapel was closed, they became faithful members of Onion Creek Baptist Church. Upon deciding to hang up the car keys, they moved in with their son Mark and wife Ana in Georgetown, then Salado, Texas. They attended Grace Bible Church, Georgetown, Texas. During her last 2 years, the staff at Visiting Angels (Bell County) and Park Place Manor (Belton) were a blessing.

Lyndell was involved in the NCO Women’s Club, Protestant Women’s Club (AFB Chapel), VBS programs, and touched many people’s lives with the cards she would give. One of her great passions was the Meals on Wheels program. She served as a volunteer for some time and culminated her 17-year tenure as one of the Travis County Meals on Wheels Site Coordinators.

She is survived by husband Norman Benson Pollock; sisters Wynell Mikesell (Jack), Doris DeBrock; sister-in-law Judy DeBrock; sons Norman Jr. and wife Deborah; Mark and wife Ana; four grandsons: Justin (wife Jamie), Ray (wife Katy), Jonathan and Cory; 5 greatgrandchildren: Cooper, Carter, Cole, Lincoln, and Eleanor.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Aubrey DeBrock.
