Dwayne “Puppy” Jackson

Dwayne “Puppy” Jackson was the third of five children born to the parentage of Raymond Carl “PeeWee” Jackson and Idell Johnson on October 29, 1953. He passed away on April 5, 2021.

Dwayne grew up in a very close-knit family in Groesbeck, Texas where he attended school in the Groesbeck Independent School District. He graduated from Groesbeck High School in May of 1972. Dwayne’s career as a cook began at an early age. He was first employed by Josie’s Restaurant in Groesbeck while still attending high school. He also worked off-shore for Brown & Root in Houston, as a sous chef for the Hyatt Regency in Dallas, at the DePaul Center in Waco, at the Mexia State School in Mexia, and Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia. Dwayne became ill in September 2012 and could no longer return to work.

Dwayne enjoyed the company of family and friends. He would sit in the backyard for hours watching his grandchildren play and the cars passing by. He has a genuine kind heart and soul, he never had a harsh word to say to or about anyone. He helped raise his stepdaughter and never once treated her any different than his own.

Dwayne was preceded in death by his loving parents, Raymond Carl “PeeWee” Jackson, Sr. and Idell Johnson Jackson.

Dwayne was married on December 13, 1984. One child was brought into this union and to this union three children were born. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Georgia Bernice Medlock Jackson; 4 children, Andrea Nicole, Karlton DuShane, Kaymus Dwayne, & Destiny Ariel. 4 grandchildren, Kendon Dushane, Kaydence Ariel, Averie Lorraine and Honest Nevaeh. 4 siblings, Alfred (Brenda) Jackson, Raymond (Maggie) Jackson, Vonda (Herbert) Richardson, and Bridgett (Elgrick) Jackson-Tatum. An aunt, Dorothy Love, one very special cousin, Rosalyn Pettis, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Service was entrusted to Pearly Gates Funeral Home. Graveside Service held on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Lone Star Cemetery of Groesbeck.
