Effie “Ione” Roberts

Effie “Ione” Roberts 75, passed away August 24, 2018 at her home.   Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 27, 2018 with Pastor Joe David Sandifer and Pastor David Snow officiating.   Pallbearers will be Jimmy Paul Cobbs, Cecil Sandifer, John Robinson and Andy Franks.

Ione was born February 18, 1943 in Groesbeck, Texas to Jessie Boyce and Alice Ione Sandifer Cobbs.   After graduating Groesbeck High School, Class of 1961, she attended beauty school and, later, classes to become a nurse’s aide.   She worked a few years as a beautician, but her passion was nursing, from which she retired after many years of service.

Ione was very compassionate, outgoing and greeted everyone with a smile.   She loved the Lord, her family, caring for people and all animals.   Spending time with family was very important, since she had no children, she especially cherished time with her nieces and nephews.   She enjoyed country life, raising all types of animals, feeding all the stray animals, gardening and was a collector of numerous items.   Ione wasn’t about to let anyone, or any animal go hungry.   She loved her church family and being a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and brother, Jessie Cobbs, Jr.

Ione is survived by her brother, Billy Jim Cobbs and wife, Linda; sister-in-law, Maybeth Cobbs; nephews, Terry Cobbs and Jimmy Paul Cobbs; and nieces, Cindy Diann Dillman, Sharon Franks and Annette Robinson.
