Gary Wayne Morgan

Gary Wayne Morgan, of Kosse, passed away peacefully at his home, with his wife by his side, on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at age 75.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, in the Kosse City Cemetery, with Pastor Jon Honea officiating and military honors by the U.S. Navy.

Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Funderburk, Randy Funderburk, Kendall Funderburk, Brandon Funderburk, Jared Smith and Brian Valentine.

Gary was born July 20, 1947, in West Monroe, LA, to Muriel Morgan and Ethel (Nugent) Morgan. He grew up in Pasadena, where the family had moved while he was young, and he graduated from Pasadena High School in the Class of 1965.

Gary enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving four years during the Vietnam War.

During this time, Gary met Judy Bryant on a blind date. Gary and Judy were united in marriage on July 12, 1969.

Gary served state-side during most of his service, with three months at a time periodically spent on board. He was a trained surveillance photographer, taking photos from a plane and the aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Shangri La.

After his honorable discharge, Gary went to work for the Houston Fire Department as a firefighter. He also trained in fire science and was a photographer in fire investigations, working for over ten years for the Houston Fire Department.

Gary later worked for several companies as a private fire investigator in the Dallas area. When he and Judy moved to Kosse in 1997, he started his private investigation service.

Gary was an outdoorsman and an avid hunter. He loved spending time on the lake and being PawPaw with his grandchildren. He continued to use his photography skills throughout his life, including developing his photos. Gary always had a joke and wanted to make everyone laugh, even to the end of his life.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Muriel and Ethel Morgan; two sisters, Gloria Brown and Linda Morgan; and a niece, Romy Walthall.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Bryant Morgan of Kosse; son and daughterin- law, Chris and Stephanie Morgan of McKinney; daughter, Kelli Eno of Kosse; grandchildren, Haeleigh Morgan, Emalee Morgan, and Natalie Morgan of McKinney; Tony Eno and Reagan Eno of Kosse; and Dylan, Bryce, and Ryder Hase; a sister, Beverly Walthall of Houston; and nephews, Steve Elliott and Greg Elliott.
