Funeral services for Helen Anita Stone will be held, Thursday, July 31, at 2 p.m. at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett. Bro. Jack Hardy will officiate. Interment will follow the services at New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held, Wednesday, July 30, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Helen went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
Helen was born on July 23, 1931, to James and Elma McMillan in Houston, Texas. She attended school in the Houston and Pasadena area. As a young girl, she loved to sing and was in many school plays doing the singing parts. Helen loved poetry and wrote lots of beautiful religious poems.
Helen married her high school sweetheart, Richard Eugene Stone in 1948 and spent seventy-six loving years together until Richard’s death in 2025. Helen was a member of Little Flock Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star, #157 in Buffalo, Texas. Helen never met a stranger and was quick to tell everyone she loved them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, her husband Richard, son, Richard Wayland and two grandchildren, Stacy and Chad.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Iris White of Jewett; three grandchildren, Shyanne Lucas, Kelli Weimers and John, Kimberly Stone and Chance; Six great-grandchildren, Emily, Kristen, Brandon, Sheridan, Audie, and Brooklyn; Two great-great-grandchildren, Shadow and Paisley along with numerous cousins and friends.
