James Lee “Jim” Franklin
James Lee “Jim” Franklin, of Groesbeck, passed away at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia, on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, at age 87.
Jim was born Oct. 3, 1937, to Edward Franklin and Audree Franklin in St. Louis, Missouri. While he lived in Granite City, Illinois, he met his wife Christine and they were married and lived there numerous years, until moving to Texas.
Jim was a mechanic all his life, and his son, Cary followed in his footsteps working along with him throughout his life. About 25 years ago, when Jim planned to retire, he and Christine bought a house at Lake Limestone, and they later moved to Groesbeck. His son, Cary, opened his shop, Mars Auto, in Groesbeck, and Jim continued to help him at the shop as long as he was able. Cary was a caretaker for Christine until her death and for Jim the past ten years.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
He is survived by his son, Cary Franklin; twin sons, Donald Franklin of Virginia and Ronald Franklin of Washington State; daughters, Teri Cole of Illinois and Barbara Franklin of Illinois; and numerous grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.
