Janis Manning Frost
Janis Manning Frost of Mexia passed away in her home just in time to celebrate her 96th birthday in heaven. She and her twin sister, Jerry, were born in Currie on July 15, 1929, to James Roy Manning and Effie Hyden Manning. The family moved to Richland where she graduated high school at the top of her class. After World War II, she married Daniel Preston Frost on Dec. 14, 1946, at her parents’ home in Mexia. She and Pep resided at Pisgah Ridge then moved to Mexia in 1954. After Pep’s death in 1989, she remarried 3 years later to Jay Andrews of Sargent, and they resided in Mexia. Jay passed in 2009. Janis loved her large family and all the wonderful holiday and Christmas gatherings at her home. She was a beautiful Christian lady inside and out and an excellent cook, the queen of fudge. Janis was a member of the Northcrest Church of Christ.
Janis is preceded in death by her parents James Roy Manning and Effie Hyden Manning and numerous siblings, Daisy Brubaker and husband Rod, Jimmie Marlin and husband Roy, Jackie Cassady, (twin) Jerry Dickerson, and Bette Bob McClure and husband Ronnie, brother Roy Manning JR. and wife Marianne. Also, her first husband, Pep, and second husband, Jay, and granddaughter Amy Hooks McClellan and son in law Doug Hooks. Janis is survived by her loving children, Dianne Hooks, Melanie and Jon Holloway, and Marcus and Molly Frost. Grandchildren Scott and K.K. Holloway, Ashley and Matthew Hall, Clint and Kayla Frost, Brooke Holloway and Hayley Vest. Great grandchildren Justin and Jake Mc-Clellan, Coker, Hunt, Aven, and Pep Holloway, Mattelyn and Morgan Hall, Presley and Harrison Frost, and Kolton Key, and Grant and Ava Vest. Visitation was held on July 14 at 1 p.m. at Blair Stubbs Funeral Home with services following at 2 p.m. Interment was in the Mexia Cemetery. Pallbearers were Janis’ great grandsons: Justin McClellan, Jake McClellan, Grant Vest, Harrison Frost, Kolton Key, Coker Holloway, Hunt Holloway and Pep Holloway. Honorary Pallbearers were Jeff Weesner, Clint Frost, Jon Holloway, Scott Holloway, Matthew Hall, David Brubaker, Tim Marlin, Clay Mc-Clure, Andy McClure, Randy Manning, and Chris Manning.
