Jerry V. Williams

Funeral services for Jerry V. Williams will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Bowers Funeral Home. Bro. Scott Matthews will be officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Freestone. Serving as pallbearers are Don Turner, Ken Turner, Trent Turner, Wayne Williams, and Seth Williams.

A visitation will be held prior to the services beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Mr. Williams passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019 after a brief hospitalization and hospice stay at Baylor-Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco.

Jerry was born on July 16, 1937, in Fair Oaks, Texas, to Elbert Hayes Williams, Sr., and Mary Lena Williams. He graduated from Fair Oaks High School, Class of 1955 and later graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelors of Business Administration, Class of 1959. Mr. Williams was also a U.S. Army veteran. He worked with his father in farming and as a building contractor. Jerry also managed a Sherman-Williams paint store in Midland, Texas. He later relocated to San Antonio as Regional Sales Manager for Southwest Subaru of San Antonio, and retired from Subaru of America, to the Fair Oaks community.

He is survived by one sister, Gerry Jean Simms of Gainesville, Florida; three sisters-in-law, Billie Marie (Yielding) Williams of Lubbock, Claudette (Morton) Williams of San Antonio, and Esther (Abshier) Williams of Magnolia; one brotherin-law Donald Sims of Groesbeck; two cousins, Don Turner of Teague and Ken Turner of Jewett; nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, and great-grandnephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Emma Jane Williams and Mary Elwanda (Williams) Sims; six brothers Gaylon Clovis (Cody) Williams, Paul Ray Williams, Carl Lee Williams, Elbert Hayes Williams Jr., Bobbie Reese Williams, and Ovid Kellus (Kelly) Williams; one brother-in-law Hendon Simms; and two nephews D. Wade Williams and Andrew J. Williams.

Jerry had resided at Groesbeck LTC for the past 5 years, and wished to thank the staff for their excellent and gracious care for him. His family thanks the Hillcrest staff for their attentive and comforting care for Jerry.
