James was born July 29, 1953, in Forney, Texas to Hillard T. Bailey and Myrtle Stephens Bailey. Jim attended and graduated from Eustace High School in 1971. James was always a hardworking man. He started hauling hay at a very young age. He also did some carpentry work before beginning his career with the railroad for 44 years, retiring in 2013.

Between both, they shared memories with eight children and two granddaughters, five grandsons, and two great-grandsons.

James had several passions, some of which included fishing, camping, raising cattle, muscle cars, and traveling to his favorite place, Colorado. He also enjoyed bar-b-queuing for the family.
