Joe was born July 29, 1941 in Thornton, Texas to J. T. and Thelma Bradley Neason. He was raised in Thornton and a graduate of Thornton High School. Joe was a man that knew nothing but work his entire life. From the son of a cotton farmer, to his daddy passing away at the age of 15, he and his brothers worked themselves to death just to save what they could. He continued that work ethic and worked seven days a week until he died. He wasn’t a perfect man, but he loved his family and tried to help everyone that crossed his path, in some sort of way. He owned and operated Joe Neason Contracting for 44 years (an oil field construction business), from 1974 until present time.

Joe married the love of his life, Jean Towers, on May 5, 1962 in Thornton. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. Joe’s children said “we could always count on our Dad to be there for us, regardless of whatever we were involved in or needed. When he found some leisure time, he enjoyed watching Dallas Cowboy football.

Joe lived his entire life in his hometown of Thornton, the place he chose to raise his children and have his business. He served on the city council and participated in activities that were in the best interest of the town and those that lived there.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 49 years, Jean Neason; grandson, Hunter Cage Neason; brother, Charles Griffis Neason; and sister, Patricia Ann “Patsy” Mills.

Joe is survived by his loving sons, Warren Mitchell Neason; Joe Neason, Jr. and wife, Lindsey; granddaughter adopted as daughter, Kassey Michele Gustafson and children, Jade Drulynn, Jordyn Raylynn and Jenna Kaelynn Gustafson; grandchildren, Katie Nicole Neason, Billy Ramirez, IV, Lillyann Jean Ramirez and Lukah Wayne Ramirez; extended grandchildren, Frank Dillon Barron, Bryce Layne Fulmer, Chance Micheal Kramer, Christopher Bayne Fulmer, Kynnedi Jalyn-Rose Nutt and Korbyn David Nutt; brother, Bill Thomas Neason and wife, Elizabeth; and several nieces and nephews.
