John Franklin “Johnny” Ferrill
John Franklin “Johnny” Ferrill, of Groesbeck, passed away at Providence Hospital in Waco on Friday, July 30, 2021, at age 67.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Groesbeck Funeral Home.
Johnny was born September 15, 1953, to J. T. Ferrill and Fay (Webb) Ferrill in Japan, where his dad was stationed in the military. After moving many times while growing up, John attended Groesbeck High School and Blinn College.
He served four years in the U. S. Army a portion of that time being stationed in Germany.
After receiving an honorable discharge, John worked in the construction industry, for various union jobs across the United States. He worked as a millwright, welder, and project superintendent. He maintained Groesbeck as his home residence and was happily retired since 2019.
Johnny was united in marriage with Pam Hillman, his dear friend and companion for the past years, on June 17, 2021, in Centerville at her brother’s home. They enjoyed attending hot rod shows and concerts, and they spent their honeymoon in Branson, MO. He especially enjoyed the Dolly Parten Stampede there in Branson and even ventured onto one of the largest Ferris Wheels.
Johnny loved going to his “hide-a-way” at Lake Limestone and sitting back and relaxing and fishing. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent a lot of his spare time working on hot rods and rebuilding vehicles from the ground up. Johnny had an S-10 hot rod truck for racing and was in the midst of several restoration projects, which he adored, at the time he passed away. He had planned knee surgery but instead went into the hospital with unforeseen heart problems which resulted in his passing.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Sis Ferrill; and a young cousin, Thomas Jacob Webb.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Ferrill of Groesbeck; daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Ron Morris and their children, Tori Paige Morris and Ronald Morris III; daughter and son-in-law, Tammi N. and Scott Seals, and their children, Crystal Tavar and her husband Justin Tavar, Dalton Black and his partner Heather Collins. His survivors include Pam’s children: sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Brent Page and wife Melissa Page, David K. Hillman and his wife, Sheila Hillman; and nine grandchildren: Alexandra Williams, Tyler Williams, Seth Page, Amaya Page, Brodie Page, Alli Hillman, Lucas Hillman, Kiley Raybould, and A J Raybould. He is also survived by his brother Mike Ferrill of Groesbeck; sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Gary Hammond of Montgomery; sister, Vickie Ferrill of Conroe; and nieces and nephews.
