Joyce Renee Brown

Joyce Renee Brown, of Thornton, passed away in Waco, Tx. on Jan. 2, 2022 at the age of 63. Joyce was born on December 24. 1958 in Texas City, to William Joseph and Loyce Williams Ray.

She married John Mikel “Mike” Brown on Nov. 7, 1998 and they were blessed with one son, Connor. In addition to being a wife, mother and homemaker, she worked for nine years at the First National Bank in Groesbeck.

Joyce’s love for the Lord, family and friends were the most important parts of her life. She dearly loved her son, was proud of him, and always played an active part in any, and everything, he enjoyed. She was a good cook, especially when it came to baking. She thoroughly enjoyed baking and decorating cookies and cakes. She liked to travel and always planned trips several years in advance. One of their favorite places to go was a place on the southwest corner of Colorado. Ironically, the log cabin, where they stayed, was made from the same floor plan as their home, just smaller.

Joyce had an outgoing personality, she had a way of making people smile, she loved people and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Thornton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Loyce Ray; and father-in-law, John Brown.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Mike Brown of Thornton; son, Conner Brown of Thornton; brothers, Jerry Ray and Terry Ray; and mother-in-law, Ann Brown of Thornton.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 5, at the Central Baptist Church in Thornton with Bro. Tracy Sims and Bro. Brandon Verm officiating. Interment will follow in the Thornton Cemetery. Elbert Page, Chris Pounders, Henry Padgett, Keith Brown, Chuck Wilgonowski, and Brad Cobbler will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday at the Blair-Stubbs Chapel in Thornton.
