Judith “Judy” Telford

Beloved mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother and friend, Judith Diane “Judy” Lenamond Telford of Groesbeck, Texas, passed away at home on Sunday, November 21st, 2021 at the age of 77.

Funeral services were held on Friday, November 26th, 2021, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Tracy Sims and Pastor Brett Turner officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. June Wietzikoski. Burial followed at Cobb Cemetery.

Pallbearers were James Hamilton, James Curry, Brian Foster, Bobby Recknor, Raymond Sanders, and Murray Agnew. Honorary pallbearers were Brady White, Grady Lenamond, Morris Beaver, Joe Towers, Greg Sackett and Jeff Blair.

Judy was born October 10th, 1944, to Grady Ellis Lenamond and Mell Dean (Herod) in Baytown, TX. She married the love of her life, Jack “Jacky” Telford on October 6, 1961, in Liberty, TX. (They married again in 1984.) They made their home on the family’s farm for several years there. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Sitton, and as an office-trained nurse for Dr. McDonald in Channelview. Aside from Jack and Judy’s Restaurant, Jack’s Drive-In, J & J Grocery, Judy owned and operated various businesses in the communities of Groesbeck and Mexia, as well as in the oil field. She was known as the “Queen of the Oil Field”.

Judy loved to travel and made trips all over the world. She visited Garbo and Paul in Syria, Jordan, Nigeria, Russia and Cyprus. She and Garbo have also visited Egypt, Israel, Costa Rica, and Panama. Jack and Judy loved going to Colorado. She was a vital part of the Wilderness Medicine Institute in Pitkin, CO for two years.

Judy had a tough exterior but a heart of pure gold. She also had a special knack for helping people find the best doctors for their ailments, and earned the title, “Dr. Judy”. She loved helping others, whatever their needs may be. You always knew where you stood with her, and she wasn’t shy about letting you know, either.

She was preceded in death by her father, Grady Ellis Lenamond; her mother, Mell Dean Lenamond; brothers Horace, Gene and wife Ernestine, Lynn Jay and Sue, and Farris Lenamond; Brother-in-law Jimmy Telford; Mother and father-in-law Floyd and Lorayne Telford; great-nephew Evan Jeter; and her wonderful husband Jack Telford.

She is survived by her daughter, Tara Telford White of Groesbeck, TX, son Todd Telford and wife Trish of Groesbeck, TX, son Jon Telford of Bosqueville, TX, Sister and Brother-in-law Jan and Bill Turner, sister-in-law Judy Lenamond of Angleton, TX; sister-in-law Judy Lenamond of Angleton, TX; grandchildren Dustin White and wife Stephanie, Brittany Telford, Logan Telford, Ariel Willis and husband Jeremy, Chelsea Hudson and husband Jubal, Victoria Telford, Ginger Telford, Kolby Morton, Cody Condleton, and Victoria Ensley. Great-grandchildren Cash, Jagger, River, Hazel, Emma, Evelyn, Eliza, Salem, Shepherd, and Ethan; Nieces and nephews: Karyn, Karyl and David, Kevin and Debbie, and Grady and Cindy; and great-nephew Garrett.

Everyone was able to benefit from Judy’s advice; She didn’t hold back and was loved because of it.
