Laura Lee (Bell) Bordelon

Laura Lee (Bell) Bordelon, 95 years, two months and 15 days, a long-time Groesbeck resident, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, in Temple. Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Feb. 11 at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband of fifty-three years and pets, Bell and Harry. The Rev. Michael Oliver will officiate.

Laura was born on Nov. 11, 1927, in Tyler. She attended Austin High School, graduated in 1945 and attended the University of Texas, where she met her husband, Tyrus Arthur Bordelon. They were married on Sep. 7, 1946, in Orange County.

Laura was an expert seamstress and a talented artist. She was asked to provide the beautiful stained-glass window in the Groesbeck Hospital chapel, now known as Limestone Medical Center. Her artwork, in many mediums, graces the homes of her three daughters and many others. Laura was active in the Flower Club in Groesbeck and served a term as president. Her floral arrangements won multiple awards at flower shows and were celebrated for their simplicity and elegance.

Laura was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lt. Col. (RET) Tyrus Arthur Bordelon; brothers William Bell and Bryan Bell; and her grandson, Jon Reeves.

Laura is survived by her daughters, Laura Sally Jaster (George Jaster), Elizabeth Ann Reeves and Katherine Pearson; her grandchildren, Col. Allan G. Jaster (Lt. Col. Lisa Jaster), Jennifer Jones, Kevin Pearson and Randel Pearson (Inge Baker); and her great-grandchildren, Zachary Jaster, Victoria Jaster, Tyler Jones, Connor Pearson and Laural Pearson.

Laura’s final arrangements have been entrusted to Crawford – Bowers Funeral Home and Day Funeral Home.
