Leamon Eugene Cox

Leamon Eugene Cox, of Kosse, passed away at Limestone Medical Center on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at age 76.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Kosse City Cemetery, with Chaplain Jon Honea officiating.

Pallbearers will be Matt Ingram, Miles Ingram, Sam Hill, Chad Crouse, Tim Crouse, and John Crouse.

Leamon was born September 27, 1943 to Elgia L. and Della Mae Pool Cox in Waxahachie. He lived in many different places growing up as his father’s job on pipelines relocated several times a year.

Leamon lived and worked in Houston as a carpenter for many years, but was very happy to leave Houston and move to rural Kosse about thirty years ago. When he retired at age 46 with health disability, he built his own house outside Kosse where he lived ever since.

Leamon loved his chain saw and was in a never-ending battle with keeping the trees and their regrowth cut down. He would not let anyone else do this for him.

He enjoyed the deer on his property, and wouldn’t shoot them, though he became very good friends with deer hunters on the adjoining property, and enjoyed spending time with them. What he did shoot though were the squirrels who tried to steal his pecans. And the crows. He enjoyed picking up the pecans and sharing them with his dear friends.

He also kept himself busy picking up cans, traveling up and down the shoulders of the road on his 4-wheeler. Tommy saved him all his cans and also wiring to strip for the copper to sell at recycling for his “Christmas money.”

He had a very special love for his dog, Daisy, who had been his daily companion since she was a puppy. It broke his heart and soul when she passed away a few years ago.

Tommy and Linda Crouse at Bryan were his best friends and adopted family. They have been close friends for more than twenty-five years, and he spent their family gatherings with them. He made an especially good ham to take to their meals.

His survivors include his “favorite” granddaughter, Emily Hill of College Station, who was his nearest family. She introduced him to Pina Colodas and spoiled him by preparing them for him at his home. He is also survived by two daughters and two step-daughters, and grandsons, Matt Ingram, Miles Ingram, Sam Hill and Kenny Cole. His dear friends included Tommy and Linda Crouse; long-time friends Marco Matranga and his brother George Matranga of Houston; close friends-partners in crime-and confidants, Cy and Tonya Harpenau of Kosse; John and Trish Roy of Kosse; and many other Kosse friends.
