Lillian Pistler Hintz

Lillian Pistler Hintz, age 96, of Austin, passed away on Friday, Feb. 10.

She was born in Anderson on Dec. 26, 1926, to Will and Emma (Boehm) Pistler. She graduated from Anderson High School in 1944 and received her Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville in 1947.

On Dec. 21, 1946, Lillian married her beloved husband, Ernest Hintz, at Zion Lutheran Church in Anderson. They spent 70 years of happy marriage together. They were blessed with a wonderful daughter, Sandra Dianne, who passed away on April 3, 1996, at 46. This was such a tragedy in Lillian’s life – one she never really overcame. She shared a very close relationship with her sonin- law, Bill, his wife, Shirley, and grandchildren, Ryan and Marla, and their families.

After graduating from college, Lillian and Ernest moved to Groesbeck, where she taught school for 28 years. She was a dedicated teacher and, with positive reinforcement, encouraged her students to perform to the best of their abilities. Her students received many University Interscholastic League (UIL) Awards. Many danced to the State Meet.

In 1980, she and her husband moved to Austin to be near their family. She taught school in Leander until her retirement in 1983. She and her family were members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Austin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Hintz; her parents; her daughter, Sandra Hintz Richardson; her brother and sister-in-law, Lonnie and Elise Pistler; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Otto and Alma Lingnau, Martin and Ella Jacob, Bill and Ruby Hintz, Ted and Ruth Tarkon and Charles and Mildred Yarbrough.

She is survived by her sonin- law, Bill Richardson and wife Shirley of Groesbeck; her grandchildren, Ryan Richardson and wife Sara and Marla Barrow and husband Nathaniel; greatgrandchildren, Kaitlyn, Savannah, Haydon, and C.J. Richardson and Crislyn Barrow; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1513 East Yager Lane in Austin or the charity of your choice.
