Lloyd Farrel Chapman
Lloyd Farrel Chapman, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, graduated from this life on September 22, 2020 in Houston at age 86 after a 6-month battle with a blood staph infection. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
A Memorial service to celebrate his life is planned for Saturday, November 28, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Lost Prairie Baptist Church, near Groesbeck, Texas.
Lloyd was born to Ralph and Carena Chapman in Des Moines, Iowa on April 28, 1934. As a young man he was drafted into the Army, and he served in Germany where he played football and drove the jeep for the company commander. When he returned home he fell in love with and married Bobbie Jean Sims in San Antonio, Texas on June 5, 1959. Together they raised three children, Hunter Chapman(deceased), Mitzi Sanders, and Kelly Chapman. They were loving, supportive, and devoted parents and grandparents. One of Lloyd’s favorite things to do was plan family trips, especially to LBJ Lake where he taught countless family and friends how to water ski. He also loved to read the Bible and serve at his church where he helped with the sound system.
Lloyd spent his whole career working for General Motors in Houston, Texas. After retiring, he and Bobbie moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and became members of Barcelona Baptist Church where they devoted their time to serving and building friendships. They also really enjoyed traveling to spend time with their family. He was known as a handyman and was always eager to help wherever he was needed.
Years after Bobbie passed away from breast cancer, Lloyd found happiness again with companion and fiancée, Earla Stenson, of Hot Springs, Arkansas. He later learned that before Bobbie passed away, she told her best friend that she would choose Earla for a companion for him.
Lloyd was a loving father, husband, proud grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to everyone who loved to make others laugh. He is survived by his daughters Mitzi Sanders and Kelly Chapman (Brit); fiancée Earla Stenson; Earla’s daughters Sheila Womac and Jan Denton; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; his brothers Fred Chapman (Loretta) and Ralph Chapman (Alice); his sister Ruth Jones; and many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie, after 55 years of marriage; and his son, Hunter Chapman.
