Margie Wynona (Johnson) Hill
Age 75
Margie Wynona (Johnson) Hill, affectionately known as “Nonie” to those closest to her, passed away peacefully on Aug. 22, 2025, at the age of 75 in Mexia, TX. She was born on May 20, 1950, in Mexia to Eldon Blake Johnson and Ora Lee Sanders Johnson.
Growing up in the Box Church/Oletha area, Margie experienced the early loss of her mother at age 10. She spent her childhood with her maternal grandmother, Ruthie Sanders of Oletha, forming close bonds with her aunts and uncles, who were more like siblings. She graduated from Groesbeck High School in 1969.
Margie dedicated her adult life to serving her community, working for Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia for 30 years before retiring. She continued her commitment to healthcare by working as a medical biller for Limestone Medical Center in Groesbeck for several years after retirement.
Margie was married to Richard Hager for 11 years, the father of her daughter Kristi. She later married Randy Hill and shared nearly 30 years of life with him, becoming a loving stepmother to Brandy, Gary, Heath, and Candy.
A true animal lover, Margie cherished her cows, chickens, and especially her dogs. She found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly fishing. Spending a day on the riverbank or by a tank, even if she didn’t catch a single fish, was a perfect day in her eyes. “Aunt Nonie” was a beloved figure in the lives of her nieces and nephews, holding a special place in the hearts of Tonya Sanders, Teri Foreman, Michael Hager, and Kari Yerby.
Margie is survived by her daughter, Kristi Hawkins and husband Clay of Macon, Georgia (formerly of Mexia); grandchildren Cade Hawkins and Serena Smith of Macon, Georgia, and Paige Hawkins and fiancé Curtis Delk of Centerville, Ohio. She is also survived by her stepchildren: Brandy Nichols and husband Terry of Teague; grandchildren Joshua Fox and wife Tierney of Waco, Meghan Smith and husband Miller of Teague, Matthew Murphy and wife Christa of Bruceville-Eddy, Rachel Murphy and Daniel Murphy of Bruceville-Eddy, and Adam Murphy of San Antonio.
Gary Hill and wife Kim of Groesbeck; grandchildren Alyssa Hill, Cord Hill, and Alex Fogle, all of Groesbeck.
Heath Hill and wife Christi of Teague; grandchildren Dalton Hill of Fairfield, Emily Hill, Jesse Foreman and wife Abbey, and Harlie McAdams and husband Ty of Teague.
Candy Oliver and husband Jason of Gary; grandchildren Skylar Brando and fiancé Ryan Youngblood, Hannah Oliver, and Macey Oliver, all of Gary.
She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. A funeral service will be held at Bowers Funeral Home on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m.
