Mark David Fox

Mark David Fox, 66, of Cypress, Texas, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 20, 2022. He was surrounded by his immediate family, which is fitting since with his family was his favorite place to be.

Mark was born July 19, 1955, at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas to O.A. “Sonny” Fox and Louise Skobla Fox. Mark graduated from John H. Reagan High School in 1974. On February 14, 1976, Mark married his high school sweetheart and forever Valentine, Charlene Watts. Mark and Charlene were blessed with three beautiful children Mark Jr., Justin Wayne and Marlene Renee. They gained two bonus children when Marlene married Kirt in 2007 and Justin married Elizabeth in 2008.

During high school, Mark worked for Marek Brothers Co. After high school, he started working at Cameron Iron Works. In 1987 he went to work for Harris County Pct. 3. Mark was a devoted employee of the county and in December 2015, retired after 28 years of dedicated service.

Mark’s proudest moments came when he became a “Papa” to his five grandsons, Brandon, Jaden, Ryder, Cash and Lane. They were his pride and joy and retirement allowed Mark and Charlene to travel and be close to the boys. You could always count on Papa to be rooting for any one of the boys at a sports complex for baseball, basketball, or football games, in rodeo arenas for youth rodeos, livestock shows or anywhere one of his boys was. He did his best not to miss being there for them.

Mark also attended classic car shows all around Texas, spending time with friends that were more like family and enjoying his 1967 Chevy Nova they restored. Mark also built and cherished lifelong friendships when hunting, camping, fishing and floating the Frio River. He loved being outdoors and being with the ones he loved.

Mark is preceded in death by a son Mark David Fox Jr., parents, Sonny and Louise Fox and brother Gary Franklin Fox.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Charlene Watts Fox, son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Elizabeth Fox of Whitehall, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Kirt Baldwin of Stephenville, Texas, grandsons Brandon Taylor Fox, Jaden Wayne “J.W” Fox, Ryder Richard Baldwin, Cash Warner “Cowboy” Fox, and Lane David Baldwin. Other survivors include Phillip and Susan Laskowski and family, Barbara Rose Schletzbaum and family, Paul Rose, Billy and DeaAnn Kipp and family, Jimmy and Loleen Styers, Buddy and Ilene Derkowski and family, a host of cousins, in-laws, outlaws, and friends.
