Martha Lane Willis

Martha Lane (Wilson) Willis, formerly of the Lake Limestone area, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 in League City, TX, at age 81.

Visitation will be Friday, September 3, 2021, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Groesbeck Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Whiterock Cemetery, near Bremond, TX (Robertson County.)

Martha was born February 1, 1940, in Thornton to Reuben Ray and Leona Fay Webb Wilson. She graduated from Groesbeck High School and attended business school in Waco. She worked for the bank and later worked as a telephone switchboard operator.

Martha married Edward Eugene Willis on February 23, 1962. About five years later they moved to Texas City and lived there until Gene retired from Amoco in 1992. They then moved back to Lake Limestone (Thornton.)

While living in Texas City and the kids were in school, Martha enjoyed bowling and playing bunco with her group of friends. When she became a grandmother, she became “GoGo,” because she was always on the go. So, for over 30 years she was known by all as GoGo. Martha loved her cats and anything with cats on it.

Martha was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Eugene Willis (1999); brothers, twins Samuel and Johnny Wilson; and brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Wilma Turner (of Thornton); many cousins and other family.

She is survived by 3 children, 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren - as follows: daughter and son-in-law, Raylin and Jimbo Anderson and their daughters and families: Courtney and Cory Lane, Gracie, Emma and CJ, all from Santa Fe TX; Christy and Dakota Thomas, Kinley, Kambri and Kolton, all from Santa Fe TX; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Gerald Hadley and their daughters and families: Bridgette and Mark Sewell, Raelyn and Wes, all from Santa Fe TX; Kayleen Hadley from Santa Fe Tx; son, Ronny Willis, from Thornton and his son, Ronny Gallagher, his 3 children, and 2 grandchildren, and daughter, Megan Moya, her 5 children.

She is also survived by sisters & brothers in-laws: Betty & J Chick from Fort Worth and Debbie & Craig Hughes from Thornton; cousins, Dwain Wilson of Waco, Bobby Wilson and Dennis Wilson of Groesbeck and other cousins; many nieces and nephews; many other extended family; and her best friend, Pat Johnson of Texas City.
