Maxine Baldwin

Maxine Baldwin, 84, of Seale passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Limestone Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 12, 2021, in the Lake Limestone Baptist Church, with Rev. Ken Worley officiating. Burial followed at Seale-Round Prairie Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ryan Jones, Steven Funderburk, Danny Coker, Mark Coker, Cameron Ingram, Kyle Ingram, Justin Moore, Ason Rhea, and Juston Prichard.

Maxine was born on November 4, 1936, in rural Limestone County to Dalton and Opal (Little) Coe.

Maxine married John Baldwin in Groesbeck on January 16, 1959. She worked side by side with her husband ranching and feeding the hayfield crew. She moved dozens of times all over the state of Texas as John transferred with his Southwestern Bell career. She never complained and always made a new home with new memories for her family. Maxine was well known for her countless number of meals served on her 12 ft kitchen bar and meals delivered to the hayfield. She sewed clothes for her daughters and granddaughters each stitch with love.

Maxine loved to fish and is credited with teaching her children and grandchildren to fish. She could outfish anyone with her cane pole and cork. Though she had a light-natured side, Maxine instilled a work ethic in her family that lives on in each member of her family. She cared for her sister-in-law Clara Baldwin as her health diminished. Her nurturing love and affection was extended for generations as she babysat for every single one of her grandchildren and was not ever afraid to use a peach tree switch.

Maxine loved shoes, jewelry, JC Penny’s, dishes, Goldstein Migels, Sam’s Club, a sales rack but none of these more than her family. In 2014, she was honored as the 2014 Homecoming Queen. She and John were founding members of the Lake Limestone Baptist Church and they wish to thank the community, church family, and friends for the outpouring of love and support for the family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law, Johnny Miertschin; brother and sister-in-law, Whit and Clara Baldwin and daughter-in-law, Jane Funderburk.

Maxine is survived by her husband, John Baldwin of Seale; son, Dwain Funderburk of Seale; daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Mack Jones of Thornton, Cindy and Mike Coker of Seale and Stephanie and Randy Ingram of Seale; grandchildren and spouses, Danny Coker, Ryan Jones, Steven Funderburk and wife Jessica, Leah Brooks Briggs, Crystal Campbell, Britney and Juston Prichard, Meagan and Anson Rhea, Whitney and Justin Moore, Mark and Sara Coker, Cameron and Kaci Ingram, Kyle and Bri Ingram; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Lawrence Sims and wife Mary Katherine; sisters-in-law, Mable and husband Macklee McCullough and Emma Miertschin.
