Mondelle Grube
Mondelle Little Watson Grube, 93, beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, was called to her eternal resting place on September 14, 2021.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 18, 2021, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Steve Nance of the First United Methodist Church of Groesbeck officiating. Burial followed in the Oaks Cemetery (Farrar community.)
Pallbearers for the service were Christian Heinen, Colton Pekar, Chance Watson, Trey Watson, Dan Grube, Roger Grube and Charles Little.
Mondelle entered this world on October 16, 1927, in Farrar, Texas, born to Jonathan and Willie Lee (Schellhamer) Little. Mondelle went to school in Fair Oaks. She loved to play volleyball and basketball. She spent many hours telling stories about the school and the friends she grew up with.
Mondelle was a total businesswoman and loved to work. Mondelle owned and managed Watson Auto Safety Center in Houston for 25 years. After that time in her life, she decided to “go back home” to Limestone County. When she moved to Groesbeck, she knew she would want a business that was not already available, so she decided, after researching, on a dry-cleaning business with the latest in equipment. She developed and operated Lew-Rich Cleaners for many years. She made many lifelong friends from the different businesses she owned. As recent as last week she said she needed to go find a job because she could not stand sitting around. In her later years she loved to travel; she always looked forward to her great adventures.
Mondelle loved to talk to anyone who would listen. She was known for her wit and her sense of humor, her love for shopping, her enjoyment of going on bus trips and tours as often as possible and to anywhere, and for socializing with friends and family. She was a member of the Groesbeck Study Club and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Groesbeck.
Mondelle was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Grube; her mother and father; her brother, Dean W. Little and sister- in- law, Nelta Sims Little; her son, Lewis R. Watson; son- in- law, Kenneth L. Pekar; and the father of her children, Lewis R. Watson.
She is survived by her daughter, Lewdelle Watson Pekar of Houston; daughter-in-law, Lynn B. Watson of Houston; granddaughter, Calli K. Heinen and her husband John C. Heinen of Houston; grandsons, Colton L. Pekar, Lewis R. Watson III, and Cameron C. (Chance) Watson of Houston; and great grandchildren, Emerson L. Heinen and Graham C. Heinen of Houston. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Trenna W. Moncus of Harlingen and Kati W. Fitch of Kerrville; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins that she dearly loved. Her assistant, Marta Pelioco, who she dearly treasured for the special care she gave her, and her employee, Geno McCardell, who stood by her side for over 50 years, are also among her survivors.
