Paula Brooks

Paula Brooks, 75, beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, and Grandmother, went to be with the Lord on May 20 th , 2020. A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26 th at 1 p.m., and a funeral to follow at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Groesbeck.

Paula Martin Brooks was born on April 1 st , 1945 in Dallas, Texas. She was born to Paul Henry Martin Jr. and Billie Hart. Paul was stationed in California in the Navy and served two terms. Upon discharge, Paul moved to Dallas to be with his family. He worked for Ford Motor Company, and then became a long-tenured, wellrespected Dallas police officer. Billie was a physical therapist, and after retirement continued to work with the local EMT department.

Paula lived in Dallas until sixth grade when her family moved to Ferris. Paula loved Dallas, but Ferris quickly became her home. As soon as Paula moved to Ferris, she met Troy, she was 12 and he was 14. A few years later, they started dating. When Troy finished Junior College and Paula graduated high school, they got married a couple of months later. On June 29 th of this year, Paula and Troy would have been married 57 years.

While in school, Paula was very active in athletics, but especially loved basketball and volleyball. Paula was very popular among her classmates and was voted class favorite and football sweetheart. After getting married, Troy and Paula worked at the two largest banks in Dallas, which happened to be rivals. Throughout her life she had many different careers but the job she loved the most was being a pastors wife and mother.

Paula and Troy wanted children right away, and Paula always wanted to be a mother. After four years of marriage, Trey was born two months premature on August 19, 1967. Trey was hospitalized for several weeks, and both Troy and Paula feared that he wouldn’t survive. Miranda was born on May 3, 1970 in Dallas, Texas. She always wanted to be a school teacher and has been for the past 29 years. Ten years following Miranda, Troy and Paula had the pleasant surprise of Matt, who was born on March 21, 1981 in Corsicana, TX. For most of their married life, Paula has served side by side with her husband at several churches throughout Texas.

Paula was preceded in death by her father Paul and mother Billie; and her in-laws Troy and Oleta Brooks; brother-in-law Robert Wallace Brooks; and nephew Trenton Wayne Brooks.

She is survived by her husband Troy of Groesbeck, TX; son Trey Brooks and wife Jennifer of Norfolk, NE; daughter Miranda Brooks and Yael Ram of San Tan Valley, AZ; son Matt Brooks and wife Karah of Horsehead, NY; brother Bobby and wife Jackie of Bristol, TX; brother-in-law Kenneth Wayne Brooks of Weatherford, TX; nieces Tami Brooks Duncan and family of Fort Worth, TX, Traci Brooks Voss and family of Malakoff, TX, Jennifer Brooks Brawley and family of Caddo Mills, TX, and Ashley Brooks Murray and family of Weatherford, TX; nephews Tyler Martin and family of Waxahachie, TX, and Cody Martin and family of Waxahachie, TX; grandchildren Hayley Brooks Gansebom and husband Ethan of Norfolk, NE; and grandchildren Henry Hays, Drew and Eli Brooks of Horsehead, NY.

Pall Bearers: Trey Brooks, Matt Brooks, Bobby Martin, David Hughes, Ethan Gansebom, Sam Thornal.
