Ricardo Salas

Ricardo Salas, 80, of Kosse, TX passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023, at Bremond Nursing and Rehab with his family by his side.

Graveside services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the Kosse City Cemetery, with Chaplain Melissa Pardun officiating.

Ricardo was born in Zacatecas, Mexico on June 20, 1943, to Monico and Juana (Delgado) Salas, one of 7 siblings. Ricardo was a hard worker all his life, in his younger years working as a ranch hand for various farms around the Central Texas area. Ricardo was a long-time employee of the City of Marlin and retired in 2007. He married Lupe (Cordova) on November 14, 1981, and they had one daughter, Ana. Ricardo loved waking up early and starting his mornings by drinking a cup of coffee from the Kosse Cefco. Ricardo was a talented gardener and in his last year harvested a garden with peppers, squash, and onions. He was a skilled craftsman who completed many home improvement projects. In his wife’s final years, Ricardo was her loving caretaker. Ricardo enjoyed visiting with family, especially his grandsons, who will greatly miss him and his jokes.

Ricardo is preceded in death by his wife Lupe Salas; parents, Juana & Monico; brothers, Manuel, Rafael, Roman, and sister Maria de Jesus.

He is survived by his daughter, Ana Smith; two grandsons, Richard Brent Smith & Robert Bryce Smith all of Cypress, TX; one brother and sister-inlaw, Rodolfo & Lorena Salas of Red Oak, TX; and one sister, Ana Maria Salas of Guadalupe, Zacatecas Mexico; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
