ROBERT ELMORE
Robert Elmore of Groesbeck passed away Friday, September 28, 2018 at Windsor Healthcare Residence in Groesbeck.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jason Ash of the Forest Glade Baptist Church officiating, followed by private burial at Fort Parker Cemetery.
Robert (called Bobby by some friends and family) was born February 26, 1956 at the Marine Naval Base in San Diego, California, to Benne Lynn Elmore Sr. and Pearl Alene Latham Elmore.
Robert was a long-time resident of Groesbeck, owning the Groesbeck Paint and Body Shop and using his artistic hand on the details of many vehicles. He passed the body shop on to his son Clayton, and the business later became Texas Towing. He drove a tow truck and enjoyed being called the Boss’s Dad.
Robert liked deep sea fishing, snow skiing, riding his motorcycle and Rock and Roll. Robert loved helping anyone out, whether he knew them or not, and would give anyone the shirt off his back. During a hard time of his life, Reverend J. R. Tapley of the Lost Prairie Baptist Church led him to God.
His first-born granddaughter, Sumer Elmore (who he called his Baby or Sumer Leon) kept in close touch with PawPaw Robert even after graduating and moving from Groesbeck to Alabama. After coming to see him two weeks ago, she felt the need again last week to see him and drove all night Thursday to get to his bedside in time to say her final good-by.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Lynn Elmore and Keith Elmore; and nephew David Elmore, Jr.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Clayton and Sarah Elmore of Robinson; grandson Drake Chambers and wife Savannah and their daughter Lorelai of Robinson; granddaughter Sumer Elmore and her finance Zachary Floyd of Enterprise, AL; grandson, Dayton Montomery; granddaughter, Aubrey Elmore; and grandson Leven Elmore (all of Robinson); brother and sister-in-law, David and Dede Elmore of Groesbeck; and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to especially thank Morgan Truett and Rose Thomas who drove Robert to doctor visits and saw to his care while his family lived out of town, out of the goodness of their hearts.
