Roy Adolf Lehrmann

Roy Adolf Lehrmann, 89, of San Antonio, went to be with his Savior, on Friday morning, February 15, 2019, passing away at Paramount Senior Care Center San Antonio after a lengthy illness. Mr. Lehrmann is formerly of Groesbeck, having been moved to San Antonio following a stroke in 2010 in order to be closer to his daughter.Funeral services were held on Monday, February 18, 2019 in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor David Reedy of the Mt. Calvary Luthern Church of San Antonio officiating.   Burial followed in Cobb Cemetery.Roy was a very kind, gentle hearted man who never wanted to see anyone down on their luck without him stepping in to give a hand. Even when he was the one needing the hand, he still looked for those less fortunate than himself. Roy spent most of his adult life working in the oil fields of West Texas until his forced early retirement at which time he and his wife were finally able to move to Groesbeck and live on their beloved farm where he spent many hours growing a garden and feeding half the neighbors from that garden and watching his cattle.Roy loved spending time with family and friends and loved it when family came to their home for holidays as he felt his wife was the “best” cook around. There was never a reason needed to have family over for cake and ice cream, or pie, or any dessert his wife would make. His famous line was “come see us, we’ll treat you so many ways you’ll have to like one of them!” His great grandchildren were his pride and joy after retirement. He spent many hours “putting them down for naps (napping with them)”.He also loved spending time with his family at church in Mexia at Faith Lutheran Church. Roy served as a trustee and spent many hours mowing the lawn at the church and working on whatever needed to be repaired at the church, which was everything. There was never anything that he didn’t try to repair.Roy was born on August 23, 1929 to Adolf Henry Lehrmann and Erna Rose Kunkel Lehrmann. Roy was united in marriage with Mary Lou Cobb Dickey on his birthday, August 23, 1957.Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Adolf and Erna Lehrmann, one sister, Irene Miller, brothers Theodore Lehrmann, Clarence Lehrmann, and John Lehrmann. Roy was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Lou Lehrmann in 2013.Roy is survived by one brother, Earl Lehrmann, and wife Gloria, of Thornton; a daughter, Lexie Lehrmann Potter, and husband David Potter of San Antonio; one son, Lynn Dickey, and wife Carla, of Big Spring, TX; 5 grandchildren - Brandi Denise McCain, Betsy Dawn Miller, Amanda Lyn Potter, Billie Rose Potter, and Brad Lee Dickey; great grandchildren – Hunter Lane Teel, Heather Chyenne Sims, Taylor Marie Sims, Garrett Alex Harmon, Weston Glenn Miller, and Paisley Grace Sotello; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.Visit www.groesbeckfuneralhome.com  to leave messages of condolence on the guestbook.
