Hebrews 13:5 ”Be content with such things as you have for He hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.”

Upon her confirmation into the Lutheran Church, this verse was given to her at the age of 12. It became her guide throughout life.

Ruby Mae Hudgins was born in Houston, Texas, on November 24, 1924. She attended Lutheran parochial school and later graduated from Sam Houston High School. After graduation, her family moved to Baytown, Texas, where she met her love, Wallace Ray Hudgins. After his service in the Marine Corps during World War II, they married on June 2, 1946. Through this union, they were blessed with three daughters—Suzanne, Darlene, and Reanette.

In 1973 they moved to Groesbeck, Texas, where they had purchased land for retirement. St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waco became their home church until Ray passed in 1987. At that time, Ruby attended Faith Lutheran Church in Mexia. She was one of the charter members there and remained faithful to her church family, especially enjoying baking cakes for Sunday morning coffee and cooking for socials. Later due to health reasons, she was unable to attend services but continued her spiritual life through television ministry and pastoral visits.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Ray Hudgins; daughter, Darlene; son-in-law, Dave Weihausen; and her parents.

She is survived by daughters, Suzanne Weihausen and Reanette Smith and husband, Bobby. Also surviving her are grandsons Alan Weihausen and wife Heather and children Chloe and Colby; Brian Weihausen and wife Mindy and children, Madeline, Natalie and Bethany; Cody Smith and wife Danielle and children Dylan and Bryce, and Joshua Henshaw. Surviving granddaughters are Kallie Davis and husband Eric and children Levi and Raven; Marie Parker and children Lila and Thomas.
