Shirley Ann Lenamon

Shirley Ann Lenamon passed away on September 10, 2019 at Groesbeck LTC after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2019 in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Brother Richard Williams of the Groesbeck Church of Christ. Burial will follow the service at Faulkenberry Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Lenamon, II, Mike McLelland, Randy Little, Carson Gate, and Charles Bratcher.

Shirley was born October 25, 1944 to Leroy and Pauline (Liles) Lenamon in Mexia. A lifetime resident of Groesbeck, she attended the Groesbeck schools. In spite of her many health issues and with much thanks to the late H. O. Whitehurst, she was able to graduate high school in 1963. Even with her impairments, she was employed part time with the Groesbeck Journal and Little Plumbing Company.

Most of her personal time was spent reading and studying the Bible. She was a long time and faithful member of the Groesbeck Church of Christ, attending as long as she was able. Because of her faith and love for the Lord, many hours were spent listening to and singing along with gospel music and songs. If there are any thoughts or words that would come close to describing her, those would be that she was one of the sweetest souls to grace this earth.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; paternal grandparents, Levi and Eva Jane Lenamon; maternal grandparents, Henry Liles and Pearl Fleming; eldest sister, Linda Lenamon Little and husband Wilmer Little; and eldest brother, Benjamin Leroy Lenamon and his daughter Jenny.

Shirley is survived by her sister, Carolyn Lenamon Bratcher and husband Charles; brother, Bobby Howard Lenamon and wife Susan; nephews, Parrish Randall Little and wife Teresa, and Bobby Howard Lenamon II and wife Terri; and nieces Natalie Bratcher, and Monica Terrell and husband Adam. She is also survived by a great number of grand nephews and nieces and other extended family.
