Shirley Diane Hampton Robinette

Shirley, also known as Diane, was born April 17th, 1957, in Lafayette, Louisiana to Donald and Norma Hampton. Shirley worked with her mother for many years caring for disabled veterans. She married the love of her life, Bobby Robinette, in Groesbeck on Nov. 18th, 1986. They were married for 18 years, until his death in 2004, and together they had three children. Shirley lived most of her life in Ben Hur, Texas. Her best friends were her mother, Norma, and cousin, Debby Vincent. She had a close relationship with her son and daughter-in-law, her two daughters, and all nine of her grandchildren. She loved her family very much and was always willing to help them in every way she could. She had a caring heart and always put everyone before herself.

Shirley entered into rest on Aug. 9th, 2022, in Waco, Texas after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Robinette; father, Donald Hampton; grandparents Earl Frances & Ethel Catron and Byron & Beula Hampton; sister-in-law, Diana Hampton; brotherin- law Johnny James and “Buddy” Robinette.

Shirley is survived by her mother, Norma Catron Hampton of Ben Hur, Texas; son, Michael Robinette, and wife, Ashley, of Haughton, Louisiana; daughters Frances Robinette of Ben Hur and Michelle Robinette of Groesbeck; grandchildren, Austin, Harli, Makayla, Caiden, Peter, Mia, Zendaya, Ariella, and Zia; sisters, Connie James of Ben Hur, Sharon Emin and husband Pete of Cleveland, Tx; brothers, Steve Hampton and wife, Darlene of Malakoff, Donald “Tinham” Hampton, and wife, Cindy of Mart, Kenneth “Corky” Hampton and wife, Lucielle of Mart; a large family on her late husband’s side, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Memorial services will be held on September 2nd, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Thornton, Tx. Officiating the services will be family friend, Rev. Tyrell Hobbs and Miss Glenda Matchett. Her ashes will be placed alongside her late-husband, Bobby, in Big Hill Cemetery in Ben Hur, Tx.

The family would like to thank the staff at Baylor S&W Hillcrest Hospital, Dr. Smith, Nurse Anna, and BSW Hospice for their wonderful care and support.
