Pallbearers will be Tyler Allen, Greg Gonzales, Jared Nettles, and Tee Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Martin and David Greenhaw.

Stanley was born in Sulphur Springs on February 8, 1933 to parents, Reggie and Dannie Boyd. The family moved to Ballinger to build an airfield, and then on to San Angelo, to build another airfield during WWII. They then moved to Dallas where they made their permanent home. Stanley graduated from N.R. Crozier Tech High School. He attended SMU until 1952 when he joined the Eighth Air Force, serving until 1956 in active duty and until 1960 as inactive duty. He was in SAC, Flying Cryptographer and he was a member of Army ROTC in high school and AFROTC in college and the Air Force.

Stanley met Jo Nettles in Dallas and they were married August 4, 1956 in Groesbeck at the Church of Christ, performed by Brother Reginald Beaver. They lived in Dallas and Mesquite for 40 years, rearing their children, Kim and Kelley. Stanley worked at Collins Radio for 13-1/2 years and General Telephone Co., retiring after 22 years.

Stanley’s favorite hobby was flying. He took flying lessons at Terrill TX Airport, receiving his private, commercial and certified flight instructor’s licenses. He was the proud owner of two Cessnas, 120 and 140. He also enjoyed boating with his family, swimming, and skiing at area Lake Lavon, Lake Ray Hubbard, and Lake Quitman. Their favorite lake though was Lake O’ The Pines. Stanley and Kelley enjoyed riding their motorcycles together for many years.

In 1994, Stanley and Jo retired to their lake home at Lake Limestone to be closer to Jo’s parents, Leslie and Raye Nettles. They enjoyed gardening and their pets, “Buster,” their border collie, and “Tabbie” and “Summer” their cats who have preceded him in death, and his precious cat “LuLu”. They also enjoyed raising a few horses and cows. From “Babe”, the mare Jo inherited from her Dad after his passing, she had four foals, Apache, Cherokee, Rio and Chico. Chico and Rio are still grazing the pastures.

After retiring, Stanley and Jo volunteered for several organizations in Groesbeck. A lifetime member of American Legion Post 288, served as president of Friends of Ft. Parker, member of Chamber of Commerce, chairing “Night in the Park” for two years, and members of LMC Auxiliary. Stanley and Jo were nominated as “Couple of the Year” by the Chamber, which was an honor and surprise. Stanley attended the Church of Christ in Groesbeck and loved the church and the minister.
