Tomi Jean Anderson Lenamon
Tomi Jean Anderson Lenamon entered into the arms of her Heavenly Father on January 7,2020 in Fort Worth, TX at the age of 85. She was born April 2, 1934 on a farm in Limestone County, near Groesbeck, TX to Cy and Lizzy Anderson. She was the youngest of six children. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, and a son, Joel Lenamon. Services and burial were in Fort Worth, Texas on January 11, 2020
Tomi graduated from Groesbeck High School in 1951. She was a popular girl and often voted class favorite. Upon graduation she worked as the secretary to the president of the Farmers State Bank. On August 21, 1951 she married her high school sweetheart Joe T Lenamon, a 1951 graduate of Texas A&M. After he had completed his service in the U S Airforce, the couple, along with their new baby daughter, Roseanne moved to Fort Worth, Texas in June 1953. Tomi and Joe were happily married for 68 years.
Tomi was very busy maintaining a home and four small children but still found time to do additional work from home. She was a true entrepreneur and very talented. She taught herself to make doll clothes and sewed for the public. She provided home childcare and was a Tupperware dealer. She bought and re-sold furniture. She loved a “good deal” and turned her bargains into treasure for others. Her later work career involved office work in several companies including Christian Education for the Blind and Stewart Title Company. In 1979 she went to work for Search Ministries and retired from there in 1991.
Tomi loved the Lord and loved serving Him. She became a member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church in 1961 . She was active in leadership in WMU and other mission projects and trips. She and her husband helped initiate a new ministry for young married Seminary students. She had a heart for those who were hurting and a gift for counseling.
Tomi loved a good story, a good party, and to look pretty. When she went out, she made sure that everything “matched” -jewelry, clothing, shoes, and purse. She received compliments everywhere she went and always had a kind word and quick smile in return,
Some might call Tomi “feisty.” If you told her, “you can’t do that,” her reply was “just watch me.” She once called all the way to the White House to complain about an advertising campaign putting cigarettes in mailboxes. She loved to collect personal autographs and pictures and was never too shy to ask for one.
Tomi was proud to be a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Confederacy. She enjoyed the process of tracing her family heritage. She took many family pictures and left a heritage in memory books for her family.
Tomi dealt with the debilitating disease of chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia even before it was an accepted diagnosis. She just knew that for most of her life, she had to smile and carry on. Her illness kept her mostly home-bound in her later years.
Tomi loved being a mother and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They adored her back. She is survived by her husband, Joe T Lenamon, her children, Roseanne, and husband John McAdams, Mickey ,and wife Sallie Lenamon, Tony Lenamon, grandchildren, Kate, and husband David Dosanjh, Sarah, and husband Brady White, Ryan, and wife Jenna Lenamon, Parker Lenamon, Travis Lenamon, Hayley Lenamon, her greatgrandchildren, Ethan White, Levi White , baby girl White and baby girl Lenamon, both expected in March, her niece, Terry Rasco of Groesbeck, many other nieces and nephews and other family.
