WILLIAM RAYMOND HAYNES (BILL)

William Raymond Haynes (Bill), 86, passed away on Feb. 12, 2026 at his home near Mart, Texas. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. at Jones Funeral Services in Mexia.

Bill was born on Jan. 25, 1940, in Aransas Pass to Stanley Stone Haynes and Mildred Opal Haynes.

Bill graduated in 1958 from Asua Dulce High School and attended Texas A&M University, where he went on to pursue a career in chemical engineering. His profession with Lummus Crest took him all over the world, where he and his wife traveled and lived in many different countries.

Bill became a minister in 1971, he loved God and his family. He was very involved in the Groesbeck community as the director of Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry and was a member of the Church on the Rock and was an Elder of said church until his passing.

His dream was to become a rancher and that dream became a reality in the mid 1980’s. He was a member of the Cattlemen’s Association. Bill also liked to paint and draw, make jewelry, rock hunting playing his guitar and traveling the world.

Preceding Mr. Haynes in death were his wife, Elsie Haynes, his son, William Tyler Haynes, stepson Michael Adams, stepdaughter Debra Adams, step-grandsons Walter Lee Fallon and Christopher Herrington and step greatgranddaughter Alyssa Jones.

Survivors include his daughter, Theresa Kay Davidson (Ray) of Mart, Texas, Step-daughters Cecelia Reist (Jim) of Alvin, Texas, Beverely Jones Brownsville, Texas and step-son Walter Adams of Dickenson; his sister, Janet Harbison(Randy) of Corpus Christi, Texas, brother, E.T. Haynes (Kathy) of Robinson, Texas as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
