Yonnie Talley

Article Image Alt Text

Yonnie Talley was born Yondalyn Donna Gregg on November 21, 1938, in Houston Texas and she died on Good Friday, March 29, 2024.
Her three brothers, Buddy, L.V., and Donnie, preceded her in death. What an Easter Celebration they must have had with our Lord!
Funeral services for Yonnie will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, at the Lake Limestone Baptist Church, with Bill Boyle officiating. Lunch will be served immediately following the service. Please RSVP for lunch to Shawn at 281-543-8452 as soon as possible.
Yonnie was introduced to Bobby Ray Talley by her best friends at the time, Betty and Elroy Weiderhold, and Glorianne and David Schwaush, and the couple were married on Jan. 29, 1960.
Yonnie started her career working in sales and worked most of her life for Resthaven Cemetery. When Bob and Yonnie retired, they loved living at the lake and always put their friends’ needs before their own. This was something Yonnie carried on after Bob died in 2012, and something that impressed their children who learned to appreciate that way of life.
She retired to Lake Limestone, where she ran Big Bob’s Marina and met some of her most treasured friends. She loved gardening, being with her friends, her church, traveling, and fishing.
She often did battle with the deer who ate all her plants and vegetables, the squirrels who ate all the bird feed, and spiders which have been known to trap her in a corner from time to time. She learned the power of a pressure cooker when she lifted the pressure weight off and that night’s supper ended up on the ceiling.
She had 2 daughters, Shawn and Terri, 4 Grandchildren, Brian, Brandon, Mitchel, and Mirandia, and 6 Great Grandchildren, Isabella, Christian, Isaac, Brody, Markus, and Luke. She “adopted” multiple hay boys and was a surrogate Mom to many people and animals along the way.
Yonnie struggled for the last 15 – 20 years of her life. She was bedridden for the last 3 years and couldn’t move anything below her arms. She said God was leaving her here to tell the people who came to see her about Him.
How wonderful that He chose to bring her home for an Easter celebration with Him, Bob, and her 3 brothers.
