The stands were packed for Friday, Sept. 15 for the Groesbeck Goats Homecoming. With the school spirit and expectation at an all-time for the Goats to bring home a victory our boys delivered with a 57-0 win over Crockett.

The game was won with huge plays as well and the Goats put their foot on the gas and didn’t let go of the momentum on both sides of the ball with the defense forcing Crockett to punt at the 50-yard line. The Goat offense took over at the 14-yard line when Trent Platt made a pass to Chris Cox putting the Goats at the 35 then Platt made another pass to Jordan Smith who ran it all the way to the touchdown then a field goal put the score 7-0.

After that the Goats got the ball back at the Goat’s 30-yard line after Cox prevented a touchdown pass and forced a turnover. Platt made a pass to Adryen Ramirez putting them on Crockett’s 39-yard line then completed another pass to Kovan Ferguson for a touchdown with a field goal putting the score 14-0. Crockett punted after Nick Liscano got a sack putting the Goats at the 35-yard line before the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter started with Platt scrambling to the 47 for a first down then after a couple of runs from Marquis Gibson, the ball was brought to the 5-yard line and finally ran into the touchdown by Gibson putting the score 21-0 after the field goal. Groesbeck kicked the ball to Crockett putting them at their 7-yard line but the Goats got the ball back at the 18-yard line after Ricardo Lopez knocked the ball loose which was later ran in by Gibson for a touchdown for a score of 28-0 after the kick. Before the end of the second quarter, the Goats kicked a field goal from the 15 putting the score at 31-0.

The third quarter began with Crockett returning a kick to the 35 and driving it to the Goats’ 25-yard line but it was turned over to the Goats after Ryder Bagley got a sack giving the ball to the Goats at the 26. Platt then ran the ball to Crockett’s 32-yard line which Platt threw to Jordan Smith who ran it all the way for a touchdown making the score 37-0 after a failed extra point.

After the Goats kick to Crockett which is brought to the 35 the Goats got it back after Lopez caused another fumble which is recovered by the Goats. Gibson then brings it to Crockett’s 29-yard line then next play runs it in for a touchdown making the score 44-0 after the kick. After Crockett is forced to punt once again Groesbeck took the ball at the 33 and after a couple of runs by Gibson, leaving the Goats on Crockett’s 45-yard line.

With a few seconds left, Cannon Campbell made a pass to Matthew Valentine putting the Goats at the 38-yard line at the end of the third quarter.

The Goats start the fourth quarter with a touchdown by Smith, scoring 50-0 after a failed field goal attempt. Groesbeck kicked the ball to Crockett and was brought to the 30. Later Crockett fumbled the ball but it was recovered by Crockett. Groesbeck later got the ball from a turnover after a failed run by Crockett. In the next play, Ja’marya Hall caught a pass and brought it all the way for a touchdown putting the score at 57-0 after a field goal.
