Annual Food for Families Drive Set for Friday, November 17th
The annual Food for Families Drive is set for Friday, November 17.
The Food for Families Drive is one of the largest food drives in Central Texas and is always held the Friday before Thanksgiving.
The Food for Families drive is an annual project of the Longhorn Council of the Boy Scouts of America, HEB Grocery Company and KWTX News along with food pantries from several Central Texas Counties. The one day drive collects non-perishable food and stocks the shelves of food banks and pantries in the area beyond the holiday season.
In Groesbeck the Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry in downtown Groesbeck on West Navasota Street is the location and drop-off point for the Food for Families drive. The Food for Families drive will be in operation on Friday, November 17, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Bill Haynes, director of the Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry , expressed thanks for past support of this November drive and pointed out that large participation in the drive is badly needed again this year.
The Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry serves those in need from throughout South Limestone County. The Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry is open the second and fourth Thursday of each month during the hours of 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon.
Last year, close to 40,000 pounds of food were collected for the Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry.
Recommended items to donate for Food for Families include canned meats (including tuna, chili, stew, chicken), canned vegetables and soups, sugar, corn meal, pasta, pasta sauce, cereals, flour, peanut butter, baby food, dry beans, flour, and rice along with various other such items.
Please remember the Food for Families on Friday, November 17, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. And, remember that the Food for Families Drive in Groesbeck is at the Fishes & Loaves Pantry on West Navasota Street and it helps those in need in Southern Limestone County!
