Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus arrived at the West Lake Limestone Volunteer Fire Department not on a sleigh but in a big white fire truck on Saturday morning! They came for a pancake breakfast and to bring the Christmas Spirit to community children by taking pictures and gift wishes.

Breakfast with Santa

By Alexandra Cannon, Staff Writer

Saturday, December 2nd, the West Lake Limestone Volunteer Fire Department hosted Mr. and Mrs. Claus at their fire station, where children of all ages gathered to enjoy a pancake breakfast before hopping on Santa’s knee for pictures and Christmas wishes!

Volunteers from the fire department cooked pancakes, sausage, eggs and hash browns for the many visitors in attendance. After a prayer by Judge Daniel Burkeen, breakfast was served and families enjoyed eating together in the station. All the children were called outside to see Santa and his wife arrive in a big fire truck. The Christmas Couple spoke to the children and took pictures with them outside before heading in to be seated by the tree. One of Santa’s helpers took pictures of each child sitting on Santa’s lap as they asked for their most desired gift, and the pictures were printed right away to be taken home.

There was a large turnout for this event and fun was had by all! Door prizes were given and children received also goody bags. The WLLVFD also hosted a Carter Blood Drive bus so that parents or other community members could donate blood in honor of Verna Hicks, Vice President, firefighter and first responder of WLLVFD.
