Out of print since 2006, there is a special edition of Tehuacana Cooks justĀ  out with the same wonderful collection of

1948-2006 recipes, plus an additional insert of more recipes covering a wide variety of dishes and including several recipes from the area menfolk.

Mildred Monk of Tehuacana inspired the project for two reasons. First, she wanted to help her pastor, Rev. Dale McDaniel of Tehuacana First Baptist Church, go to the Holy Land one more time. Hopefully Bro. Dale willget there sometime in 2018, and will be happy to share his experiences with local groups after his return (this is not just a tourist trip). Second, Mildred has received numerous requests for the cookbook, which has notbeen in print for years.

The cookbooks are to arrive on Friday, Dec. 8, and are being offered for $10. Several Tehuacana Christian groups are cooperating to make them available in various ways. This includes the Tehuacana Area ChristianWomen (254-747-3784, M. Day), and the knitting/crochet ministry which meets each Monday evening at Tehuacana First Baptist, the "Knit-Wits" or knitting witnesses, who welcome people to drop by. Also the contemporary Gathering on the Hill at the Tehuacana Methodist Church each Sunday at 5 p.m. will have on hand copies of the cookbook. On Monday evening, Dec. 11, the Knit-Wits will be knitting and crocheting withresidents at the Manor Nursing Home on Hwy. 171 in the dining room, and will have cookbooks there.

Thrivent Financial, formerly Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, has graciously accepted the cookbook project as one of their action tEtam projects, and paid $250 toward the printing of the cookbooks, as well as providing25 free navy blue Thrivent t-shirts with their Christian logo on them for those who might want a free t-shirt. At this writing, Mildred herself is in the hospital and needs to be on the prayer lists, but she would stronglyrecommend Tehuacana Cooks as a nice Christmas gift for a worthy cause. Claude doesn't need a bunch of phone calls asking about Mildred's health, so just come to one of the events above to find out about herprogress toward recovery. Merry Christmas!
