Billy B’s Sale Barn Café named the Business of the Year
This year’s Business of the Year recipient is Billy B’s Barn Café. I had the honor of sitting down with the owners, Billy & Brinda Brown, to get their perspective on what makes this hometown jewel sizzle. With great candor, they readily reflected on their journey to success. You see, Billy and Brinda don’t have a background in the restaurant business. Billy owned a wholesale produce company out of Waco that he operated for over 25 years. It was through this business that his connection to Groesbeck began. He often found himself delivering produce to the former owners Jack and Judy Telford. He had told them that if they were ever interested in selling to let him know. Years later when the offer was presented and he acquired the business, Brinda joked that she thought he had lost his mind. They picked up and moved to Groesbeck, taking over the restaurant while only knowing 4 people in town – their daughter, son in law, son and grandson!! Wow, what a step of faith.
