Rita's Reflections

By Rev. Dr. Rita Sims, First United Methodist Church, Kosse

In light of the trouble in Charlottesville, Virginia, it is a good time to take a look at what the New Testament tells us about how to treat one another. Galatians 3:28reminds us, "There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male or female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus." In I John 4:19-20, readers are called to love, "We love because he (God) first loved us. Those who say, 'I love God,' and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen." Philippians 2 urges us to have the same mind of Christ and "in humility regard others as better than yourselves."
