Most of us, from time to time, face mountains of difficulty and opportunity. Sometimes the decisions we make in life point us squarely to mountains of problems. At other times, God leads us to mountains of challenges just to help us grow in faith and prepare us to receive His blessings.
In Joshua 14, there is the story of 85 years old Caleb, who believed God still had work to do for him. Caleb was one of the men Moses sent to spy out the land of Canaan. Only Caleb and Joshua believed God could lead the Israelites to victory. As a reward for his faith, God promised Caleb, through Moses, that he would give him all the land he had walked over. Forty-five years after the promise, when the time was right, Caleb asks for his land. (Joshua 14:12)
For forty-five years, Caleb looked forward to the time when he would receive God’s promise. Caleb shows us that age has nothing to do with claiming the promises of God to be productive in opportunities in life which can often turn into mountains of difficulty.
