Shepherd Sayings

Pastor Jack, Kosse Baptist Church

The Boy Scout motto is “Be Prepared”. The Bible says, “Always be ready to give an answer when someone ask you about your hope in God.” (1 Peter 3:15)

Remember the Minute Men of Concord who fired the shot heard around the world. They trained themselves to be ready to defend their homes at a minute’s notice.

God needs trained “Minute Men”. He said, “Always be ready!” (Matthew 24:42)

The Bible teaches that evil has its “Minute Men”. Scripture says, “Look, the wicked string their bow, they put the arrow on the bowstring to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart.” (Psalm 11:2)

The Apostle Paul trained Timothy to be a “Minute Man” for Christ. He said, “Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct; rebuke and encourage.” (2 Timothy 4:2)

Paul was a “Minute Man for Christ. From a prison cell he said, “I am ready to preach the good news at Rome.” (Romans 1:15)

Today, God needs trained “Minute Men” who call for and live in truth and holiness. Men who will boldly say, “Now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2)

The work of Christ needs trained “Minute Men”. Men who will faithfully explain, defend, and if need be, die for the good news of the Gospel of Christ.

Heavenly Father, help us to want to be prepared to give a reason for our faithfulness to you. Teach us to rely on Your grace and power as we practice what we have prepared to do. Amen!
