The Bible says of Jesus, “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree” (1 Peter 2:24). Christ died in our place on the cross. He represented all sinners as He sacrificed His life. Remember, before He could sacrifice His life it was necessary for Him to have a human body. In His human body He learned how it felt to be an earthly person. Then, as a human, He took our sins on Himself and died on the cross for our forgiveness.
