City approves Atmos negotiated rate increase
Groesbeck city council approved at its May 16 meeting the proposed Atmos Energy rate increases, which had been negotiated by attorneys for Atmos and a coalition of cities called Atmos Texas Municipalities, or ATM. The vote was not unanimous, however, because Council member Kim Harris cast his vote against the proposed increases.
Atmos Energy representative Chace Murphy attended the council meeting and gave the council a summary of the increases and also answered questions from council members.
The rate increases will apply to the entire Mid-Tex Division, which Murphy described as running north beyond Dallas, east almost to the Louisiana border, west beyond Wichita Falls and south to Bryan-College Station.
Groesbeck residential bills would rise an average of $2.04 per month, he said, depending on gas prices and climate conditions.
