City hopes bass tournament will boost sales
Groesbeck city council approved paying $2,000 from the Hotel-Motel Tax Fund to help the Chamber of Commerce host a bass tournament in September that could pump up local business sales for the four-day event.
The council addressed the request at its April 18 meeting and also approved a new sprinkler system at the baseball fields, sold an abandoned street to the adjacent landowner, and handled other minor matters.
Chamber President Joan McEntyre presented the request before council, asking for money from the Hotel-Motel Tax Fund for the 2017 Texas Bassmaster Team Trail Championship, planned for Sept. 28 – Oct. 1.
She also requesting a waiver of the $480 rental fee for the Convention Center for Friday night of that weekend, when the Chamber will hold a dinner for the group.
