Former Mexia Mayor Richard Duncan took the oath of office and became the new Limestone County judge on Friday, June 1, with county commissioners, county employees, family members, local and area dignitaries, supporters and other well-wishers on hand.

The ceremony took place in the county courtroom of the courthouse in Groesbeck after commissioners court held a brief meeting to appoint Duncan as county judge. In that meeting, outgoing County Judge Daniel Burkeen expressed best wishes to Duncan and encouraged county department heads to support Duncan and show him the same courtesies and cooperation they had shown him.

Precinct 1 Commissioner John McCarver welcomed Duncan to the county judge position.
