The annual Groesbeck Chamber of Commerce banquet is scheduled for this Thursday night at the Groesbeck Convention Center.

The theme for the banquet is "A Night in TV Land" with various businesses and groups decorating tables that depict popular television shows of past years.

The convention center doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the banquet will begin at approximately 6:30 p.m. with a full meal being catered.

The banquet program will include a silent auction and a stretch ticket drawing. Ken Givens, Chamber President will be residing the banquet and invites all candidates for public office and existing Limestone county dignitaries to join in the night of fun.  Since this year is an election year, all candidates will be recognized during the banquet. Tickets will be available at the door for $25.00.  Advance ticket sales are also available.

The speaker of the night will be Matthew Wright, a Baylor professor. Wright is known as a very humorous and entertaining speaker. Wright's full biography can be found in last week's paper.

One of the highlights of the evening will be the presentation of the annual awards by various presenters. Some awards to be presented are Business of the Year, Organization of the Year, Educators of the Year, and a new award this year, the Community Spirit Award. Full biographies of all this year's award winners can be found elsewhere in this week's Journal.
