By Jennifer Paul Editor, GM

Groesbeck Economic Development Corporation met on Tuesday, February 26 for a regular meeting with emphasis on downtown projects, local businesses and happenings.

The meeting was called to order at 6:01 p.m. with all board members present minus president, Mike Thompson who was out with a family death.

The consideration and approval of assistance in purchasing Coffeehouse equipment was the first topic of interest in the meeting.  Lisa O'Kelley, the owner of Courtside Bakery and Coffeehouse, is requesting funding assistance for the purchase of a heated countertop case.

In the March 1 issue of the Groesbeck Journal. Some mistakes were made in the reporting of the Groesbeck EDC meeting. The facade grants out of pocket costs are $500 - $2000 for the businesses. Not $5000-$2000 as reported. Additionally, I misquoted EDC Director TK Presley in stating “I helped them leverage those metrics and that success to try and see what we can do in terms of other businesses that may want to come in and eventually establish something here. I'm just going to see how that plays out.” in reference to Chick-Fil-A’s presence in Groesbeck recently. What Presley actually stated was: “I hoped to leverage their success to try and see what we can do in terms of other businesses that may want to come in and eventually establish something here. I'm just going to see how that plays out.” I, myself, and the Groesbeck Journal apologize for these errors. Jennifer Paul Editor/GM
