Groesbeck Lions Club has interesting program by two fifth grade students
The Groesbeck Lions Club had an interesting program at its meeting last week with the program being presented by two 5th grade girls.
Ashley Foy, program chairman for the month, introduced the program.
The two fifth graders, Gayla Garcia and Sofia Jimenez, told the Lions Club member of a special project which they created on their own. The girls named their project “Splat”.
The primary purpose is to raise funds to provide 300 blankets for the Backpack Ministry which in-turn will present the blankets to those children who need them. The girls stated that their deadline for the project is October 30.
The girls were accompanied to the Lions Club by their teacher, Crala Pringle. Mrs. Pringle pointed out that the two girls organized the blanket project on their own.
Mrs. Pringle also briefly explained a project from Texas A&M University in which the Enge-Washington School is involved.
Following the program the Lions Club voted to donate $100.00 to the blanket project.
It was announced at the meeting that Neal Gibson was the winner of the rifle which was given away on Homecoming night by the Lions Club. The fall gun rifle is one of the Lions Club’s fundraiser each year. The annual fundraisers finance the various Lions Club projects.
The local Lions discussed helping the newly formed Lions Club in Mart.
